A recent traffic collision in Las Vegas has left one driver in critical condition, according to a report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The accident, involving two vehicles, occurred on the evening of July 28, at around 7:37 p.m. at the intersection of South Nellis Boulevard and Winterwood Boulevard. The LVMPD's release provided the details of the incident and subsequent emergency response.

The collision happened when a 2019 Chevrolet Trax, heading southbound on Nellis Boulevard, attempted a left turn onto eastbound Winterwood Boulevard. A 2015 Honda Accord driving northbound, in the rightmost lane, collided with the Chevrolet as it crossed into the path of the Honda. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to rotate, and subsequently, to run off the road and strike a block wall on the intersection’s northeast corner. Emergency services were dispatched immediately to the accident scene, where they transported the occupants of both vehicles to Sunrise Hospital, the Chevrolet's driver, a 66-year-old female resident of Las Vegas, whose name is pending notification, sustained critical injuries and remains in the hospital for ongoing treatment. Angelina Tobin, a 22-year-old passenger in the Chevrolet from North Las Vegas, incurred minor injuries, while Karen Mata, the 33-year-old driver of the Honda from Las Vegas, suffered moderate injuries.

Investigators have ruled out impairment as a contributing factor for the collision, which is still under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Section. While the precise cause of the accident has not been made public, witness statements and evidence gathered at the scene are aiding the ongoing investigation.
