The S.S. Badger, a longstanding Lake Michigan car ferry, has canceled this morning's sailing as a result of persisting mechanical issues, WZZM 13 reported. According to a Facebook update by Lake Michigan Carferry, the company behind the vessel, both engineers and electricians are actively working to resolve the electrical system setbacks that have disrupted the ferry's normal schedule.
Following a "mechanical issue" that arose last Saturday night during a crossing from Manitowowoc to Ludington, the S.S. Badger has had to cancel not only the subsequent Sunday voyage but the 9 a.m. sailing today too, a development that comes scarcely a year after a ramping system fault curtailed the ferry's 2023 season, as FOX 17 News pointed out. Passengers have been ensured however that there was no compromise on their safety when the power outage occurred.
The service disruption has prompted Lake Michigan Carferry to issue apologies to affected passengers and to offer refunds to those inconvenienced by the cancellations. "Lake Michigan Carferry apologizes for the inconvenience to our passengers," the company conveyed in the aforementioned Facebook post, as per WOODTV. Customers seeking information on future trips or refund processes are advised to contact the company at 800-841-4243 or reach out via email.
