The era of the iconic Tropicana Las Vegas is coming to a definitive end, as the resort's two main towers are slated to be demolished in a dramatic fashion. According to News 3 Las Vegas, officials at Tropicana have applied to Clark County for a commercial permit to implode both the 22-story Tropicana Club Tower and the Tropicana Tower in "a single explosives event." The permit is currently under review, with a job value estimated at approximately $1.2 million.

Following the resort's closure back in April, demolition crews have been busily dismantling the decades-old structures. In a move to decisively bring down the towers, representatives from Bally's Corp, which had operated the Tropicana, are preparing to possibly begin the implosion as early as late September, with a completion target before mid-October. This process, however, will not be able to officially start until the fire department grants a blasting permit for the use of explosives, as per a county spokesperson.

In its final act, the Tropicana's demolition is estimated to cost around $15 million. This course of action paves the way for the construction of a new resort and a proposed Major League Baseball stadium, intended to be the future home of the Oakland Athletics, according to executives at Bally's Corp. The details surrounding the implosion were not provided initially, however, with a Bally's spokesperson declining to comment on the specifics, according to 8 News Now.
