An unfortunate chain-reaction crash involving five vehicles in Sacramento County sent four people to the hospital yesterday afternoon. Sacramento Metro Fire officials stated that the accident occurred approximately at 3:16 p.m. near the intersection of Daly Avenue and Roseville Road in the Antelope area, as reported by ABC10.
Details released by the California Highway Patrol, and echoed by CBS Sacramento, indicate that a white Silverado, which was towing a fully loaded trailer, was travelling westbound on Antelope Road at the same time an elderly man driving a Toyota SUV attempted an unsafe turn onto the thoroughfare from southbound Roseville Road. This maneuver propelled a series of collisions, as the Silverado struck the Toyota SUV, which then spun into a Miata and a Toyota Corolla.
Compounding the incident, the Silverado veered into the wrong lane and collided head-on with a red Tacoma. The impact of this collision forced the Tacoma backwards, where it met with a Tundra and subsequently an Explorer. Firefighters worked to extricate the driver of the Tacoma, who was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. Three other individuals involved were reported to have minor injuries.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, while the injured parties receive care. The CHP has not yet released any additional information regarding the status of those injured or the potential causes beyond the initial unsafe turn made by the Toyota SUV driver. Residents in the area might expect ongoing traffic delays as the crash site remains an active scene of investigation and recovery.
