Glendale Water & Power (GWP) is hosting a student art exhibit that's all about saving water at the Glendale City Hall lobby from July 24 to August 6, which is part of The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's (MWD) "Being Waterwise Is…" project. According to a GWP announcement, the collection features works from students across six counties, all aiming to paint a picture of sustainable water usage.
Out of over 2,000 submissions, 37 pieces have made the cut to be displayed where the public can get a gander during business hours. Two of Glendale's own – Sophia Doh, a 3rd grader from Monte Vista Elementary, and Hayoon Lee, in the 5th from Fremont Elementary – are among those getting the nod for their standout artistry.
This traveling exhibit wants the people to think about each drop of water used, as it makes stops across MWD member agencies. And it's more than just canvas and paint – these winning pieces get a spot in an annual calendar, so you can have a daily reminder to turn off that tap.
Grab your chance to check out these powerful pieces at 613 E. Broadway, Glendale, CA 91206, with doors open Monday to Thursday from 7:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M., and Friday, when they swing open at 8:00 A.M. Props to GWP and the MWD for spotlighting young talent, and floating the message of water conservation in such an engaging way.
