Residents and their furry friends have a reason to wag their tails with the recent collaboration between a local outreach center and Grapevine Animal Services. The team-up offered essential services to the pet community, including a food pantry and vaccine clinic. The outreach endeavors resulted in numerous pets receiving rabies vaccinations and microchip implantations. Additionally, supplies such as cat litter, and both dog and cat food were distributed to animal owners in need.
The initiative aimed to not only keep the animals well-fed but to also ensure they are safely identified and vaccinated - a critical component to eventually bring down the rates of lost and unprotected pets. The decision to also offer microchips is an evolutionary step in pet care, providing a permanent form of identification that can easily help to reunite lost pets with their owners. According to the post shared by Grapevine Police, the combined efforts were a move to bolster the health and well-being of the local pet population.
