A 20-year-old Greensboro woman has been apprehended in connection to a hit-and-run incident on March 29 that resulted in injuries to 15 individuals, including students from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Zamyria Nicole Maness was served with warrants on Monday, facing 15 counts of felony hit and run, according to Greensboro police. The arrest announcement was reported by WFMY News 2, revealing the culmination of an investigation that has spanned months.

The incident, which has since cast a somber shadow over the local community, involved Maness driving into a crowd and amongst the seriously injured were victims with broken bones. Officials relayed this troubling detail to WXII 12 News as they continued to quickly and thoroughly to inform the public on the consequences of the event. With the legal proceedings now fully set into motion, the community looks towards justice and recovery.

Further scrutiny has also been directed toward the event's planning and security measures. The Greensboro Police Department (GPD) stated that the event organizer had submitted a request to Event Directional Staff (EDS) only a week before the happening, seeking only traffic work and not security. Despite being notified in writing that coverage was not guaranteed, the event proceeded. "The promoter was aware of this and yet continued to place profit over safety and continued with the event," GPD said in a statement obtained by QC News. The Easter holiday weekend and the concurrent spring break for Guilford County Schools students further complicated staffing for the event.
