Spring Stuebner Road was pierced by the sound of sirens as Harris County constable deputies engaged in what would escalate into a pursuit. The chase began after a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle in the 4600 block of the suburban stretch.
The attempt to pull over the driver resulted in a detour from routine into the uncertain territory of pursuit. According to a Facebook post from Constable Mark Herman's Office, the driver, later identified as Jacob Schultz, opted for flight rather than compliance with law enforcement, leading deputies on a chase that would not last long.
The deputies succeeded in halting his escape. Once stopped, it was discovered that Schultz was in possession of a loaded firearm, adding a layer of gravity to what began as a routine traffic stop. “Jacob Schultz was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. His bond was set at $2,600.00 out of the 184th District Court and County Court 6,” the constable announced.
