There was a harrowing moment at Canyon Lakes Trace at Wilson Rd in Humble, when a vehicle accident escalated into a life-threatening situation. A car, having been involved in the crash, ended up submerged in water, prompting a swift and courageous response from Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy D. Hess. Deputy Hess didn't hesitate; upon arriving at the scene, he promptly entered the waters, cut the driver's seatbelt, and pulled them to safety—all on his own.

The driver, who appeared lifeless after an extraction, was in immediate need of resuscitation. Deputy Hess initiated CPR, maintaining a lifeline until EMS could transport the driver with continuous CPR in progress. The driver’s current condition has not been disclosed. For his part, Deputy Hess emerged from the ordeal without sustaining injuries.
While further information on the accident is still forthcoming, the community has expressed an outpouring of gratitude towards Deputy Hess for his life-saving efforts. The Harris County Sheriff's Office took to X to commend his actions.
