
Four members of the Harris County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, along with their helicopter pilot, were hospitalized following a crash during a nighttime training exercise in Eagle Lake. The incident occurred late Monday and was confirmed by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, who stated that none of the injuries were considered life-threatening. By Tuesday morning, all injured parties had been released from the hospital, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.
The causes behind the helicopter's hard landing, which led to the injuries are still unknown, and an investigation is currently underway by both the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Aviation Administration. Gonzalez shared via X that the remainder of the training course has been canceled, and, all participants have been sent home in the wake of the crash.

The training exercise took place approximately 70 miles west of downtown Houston, in Colorado County's Eagle Lake. According to the Sheriff, the deputies were involved with an established training group participating in a program designed to simulate real-world scenarios under the cover of darkness. The specifics of the exercise were not immediately disclosed. The names of the deputies and the pilot have not yet been made public, pending the ongoing investigation.
