Houston authorities are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident that unfolded on the Katy Freeway early Sunday morning, as reported by City of Houston News. The accident claimed the life of a young man, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
According to the Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer T. Johnson, a blue Ford Mustang was allegedly to quickly travel westbound on the highway around 1:40 a.m. The driver appeared to lose control while exiting the freeway, which led to the vehicle's fatal trajectory wherein it collided with a concrete barrier. The Mustang then rolled multiple times before striking a wall and a sign, eventually splitting in two and coming to rest.
The unfortunate incident occurred at the 15000 block of the Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10), an area known to Houston commuters. Per the initial investigation reports, no other individuals or vehicles had a role to play in this catastrophic event. It was a solitary crash that ended with dire consequences. Responders from the Houston Fire Department were quickly on the scene to administer aid but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The HPD continues its investigation to understand exactly what caused the driver to so tragically lose control.
