The Houston Police Department (HPD) is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding a man's death after his body was discovered in a storage building in Midtown. According to ABC 13, the body was found Saturday night in the 2200 block of Milam Street, and authorities were called to the scene after 7 p.m. Initial assessments suggested the man, who appeared to be a homeless individual, may have died due to natural causes.
However, upon further investigation signs of trauma were observed, indicating that the deceased had possibly been subjected to some form of physical force. Click2Houston reports that the incident was first reported by bystanders to two people waiting for a bus, who then found the body inside the shed.
As the investigation proceeded, HPD found that the man had likely suffered from blunt force trauma. This new evidence led the police to approach the case with a heightened sense of urgency, moving away from the original assumption of a death by natural causes. HPD is calling for the public's assistance in shedding light on this event. They urge anyone with information related to the case to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600. Tips can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477, according to an announcement from the department.
