
Tragedy marred the Fourth of July celebrations in Huntington Beach as a stabbing spree left two dead and three injured. The Huntington Beach Police Department reported that officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon around 11 p.m. near 16th Street and Pecan Avenue. The violent outburst occurred shortly after residents gathered to view fireworks, according to KTLA.

Witnesses recounted a horrifying scene, where a man reportedly exited a vehicle and began attacking people on the sidewalk, as per KTLA. As the suspect inflicted harm, two men from the gathering intervened, managing to subdue the assailant until police arrived on the scene.
Meanwhile, the Huntington Beach Fire Department had to clarify early reports, stating that the number of victims stood at six individuals: two of which succumbed to fatal wounds, with three receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, as ABC7 updated the count.
The suspect was promptly taken into custody though their identity was not disclosed immediately, as reported by FOX11 Los Angeles.
Authorities assured the public there was no longer a threat following the incident, but the probe into the circumstances that led to the dark turn of events continues. Detective Anthony Pham with the HBPD Major Crimes Unit reaffirmed this sentiment, “HBPD has no reason to believe there is any further public safety threat related to this incident,” as noted by FOX11.
