The Texas landscape is welcoming a new set of neighborhood contours with ICON’s latest undertaking in Wimberley. Known for their innovation in 3D-printed homes, ICON's introduction of housing development in this niche community outside Austin aligns with the expansion thrust of Central Texas, catering to an increasing demand for sustainable and resilient housing. According to a KVUE report, the pre-sale for these homes sprawled across 2,800 to 4,000 square feet, has commenced, starting at over $800,000.
ICON’s novelty in Wimberley doesn’t just lie in the price tag but also the scope of the buildings themselves. These aren't just homes but also a demonstration of ICON’s technical capability in fabricating high-quality, energy-efficient residences. They're structured to withstand severe weather conditions, boasting walls designed to endure wind speeds of up to 250 mph. As detailed by ATXtoday, the homes, as part of the AlphaBeta and TexNext collection, are the most spacious offerings by ICON so far with up to five bedrooms.
Constructive elements that consolidate the homes’ durability and sustainability are vital. ICON utilizes a low-carbon material called CarbonX for the walls, intended to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of construction. This attribute has a direct impact on the future homeowners' energy bills and the overall environmental footprint of the neighborhood. "These high-performance, energy-efficient homes leverage ICON’s technology platform including digital architecture, design, robotic construction, low-carbon building material and proprietary software tools including a digital real estate platform for sales," ICON pronounced in a statement obtained by KVUE.
Adaptability to modern comforts hasn't been overlooked; smart doorbells and thermostats are standard fittings in these houses. Each dwelling integrates seamlessly with modern smart home technology, positioning itself as a blend of futuristic building methods and contemporary convenience. The Wimberley Springs location, a mere three miles from the Wimberley town center and close to Cypress Creek, adds to the allure of the setting. Both Wimberley Springs and Georgetown’s Wolf Ranch are now venues where ICON’s 3D printed homes are currently available for purchase, the company indicated.
