A tragic boating accident occurred on the Ocklawaha River near Nelson's Fish Camp in Lake County this past weekend, resulting in the death of a woman. According to WFTV, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) had said that the accident took place on Saturday at around 1:30 p.m., where an adult female, among eight people on a pontoon boat, accidentally fell overboard and was struck by the boat's propeller.
While being rushed from the scene after the incident, the woman succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital. It happened aboard the vessel when she was with seven others, consistently in motion and unpredictable as the waters themselves, and now, the wildlife officials are actively investigating her death. FWC has yet to release further details surrounding the circumstances of the accident, keeping the focus on the ongoing probe, as reported by WESH.
In their statement following the incident, FWC extended "their deepest condolences to the victim's loved ones," recognizing the sorrow that grips a community in the aftermath of such events, as detailed by WESH.
