On a late Wednesday night in Lake Elsinore, deputies from the Sheriff's Station responded to a distressing call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. According to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, an altercation resulted in a victim being attacked with a knife by a suspect on Riverside Drive. The attack, taking place July 3 at approximately 10:45 p.m., left the victim with head injuries and a community on edge.
The authorities quickly identified the suspect, through the investigation, as Michael Losoya, a 41-year-old man from the local area. After evading immediate capture, Losoya was subsequently located near the crime scene and arrested without further incident, situated a short distance away. He now faces severe legal consequences, with the Sheriff's Department stating, "Losoya was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for attempted murder and resisting arrest with a bail amount set at $1,000,000."
In the aftermath, Lake Elsinore community members are being reminded of the role they play in "Community Policing."
