Los Angeles has once again been marred by a hit-and-run incident, which has prompted LAPD's Valley Traffic Division detectives to seek the public's help. According to LAPD Online, the grievous event occurred on July 3, around 4:35 p.m., when a pedestrian was struck by a white Infiniti sedan along Sherman Way, near Coldwater Canyon Boulevard.
The vehicle involved was seen traveling east before colliding with the victim, who was outside of the crosswalk, as per the LAPD. With the driver of the sedan having fled the scene immediately after the incident without fulfilling his legal obligations, the community is now compelled to come forward with any information they might hold. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the call and transported the severely injured pedestrian to a local hospital, having been left in the wake of the vehicle's hasty retreat.
In response to the ongoing issue of hit-and-runs, the City Council had previously amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code, instituting a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund on April 15, 2015. As there is up to $25,000 on the table for information that leads to nabbing the offender, the community's engagement is crucial. Those with potential leads are called upon to step up and make use of this fund by providing actionable intelligence.
Those who witnessed the incident or have details about the collision are being urged to contact either Investigator Reyes at (818) 644-8114, or Investigator Santos at (818) 644-8024, as noted in the official LAPD report. Anonymous tips are welcomed as well through LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or via the "P3 Tips" mobile application.
