The first incident occurred around 2:40 a.m. at the intersection of Charleston and Hollywood boulevards and involved a white truck colliding with a blue SUV. Both occupants of the SUV were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the truck fled, prompting an ongoing search by Las Vegas police. The area around the intersection has been closed for investigation, and speed has been cited as a possible factor in the crash, as reported by FOX5 Vegas.
In a separate incident reported by 8 News Now, another hit-and-run occurred around 2:00 a.m. on an freeway ramp connecting the west 215 to north I-15. The victim was outside of their truck, filling it with gas, when they were struck by an SUV. Nevada State Police Sergeant James Pazos described the suspect vehicle as a red or maroon Nissan Kick, likely a 2018-2020 model, with front and right front side damage, and possibly missing a right front headlight and side mirror.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police urge anyone with information on the crash at Charleston and Hollywood to come forward, as do the Nevada State Police with regard to the freeway ramp incident. Such tragedies underscore a dark shadow over holiday festivities, reminding the community of the importance of road safety and the dire consequences of reckless driving.
