The streets of Long Beach were the scenes of several shootings over the weekend, including two no-hit incidents and one hit-shooting, which left two people injured, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The LBPD blotter details the events, starting with a shooting in the 1400 block of Chestnut Avenue on Sunday around 4:34 P.M., where officers found evidence of a shooting, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. The police are still investigating the suspect information and motive behind this incident.
Earlier that day, another shooting occurred at the 1900 block of 7th Street just after midnight. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and found evidence supporting that shots had been fired after two groups engaged in a verbal dispute, which escalated. The suspects fled on foot evading the police. No one was injured in this confrontation, and the pursuit of suspects and investigation persists, as per an official update from the LBPD.
Notably more severe, a hit-shooting on Saturday at the corner of Alamitos Avenue and East 6th Street resulted in two people sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. In the event, a man and woman were on the sidewalk when a suspect unleashed a barrage of bullets, striking them. Both were transported by the Long Beach Fire Department to a nearby hospital and are presently in stable condition. The suspect managed to escape on foot before law enforcement arrived on the scene.
