Firefighters in Los Angeles had a busy afternoon on Saturday, after a brush fire broke out in Lake View Terrace. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported the incident via an alert that was later updated to confirm the fire had been extinguished.
The blaze, first reported at approximately 5:13 PM near the 11451 W Foothill Boulevard, was met with a quick and efficient response. LAFD and Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) crews were dispatched to Hansen Dam where they encountered a half-acre of medium to heavy brush aflame. According to the official LAFD alert, "Firefighters worked quickly to surround the burning area with hose lines and extinguish the flames." In spite of the potential risk to nearby areas, their efforts prevented the spread of the fire.
No injuries were reported in connection with the fire, and all fire personnel were accounted for. Post-extinguishment, several fire companies remained on the scene to manage remaining hotspots and to ensure the fire was completely out, mitigating the potential, for re-ignition. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by authorities.
The LAFD's incident report provided a detailed update on the resources used to combat the fire, which included coordination between multiple fire station crews. "Following reports of smoke, LAFD and LACoFD fire crews arrived at Hansen Dam and found approximately 1/2 acre of medium to heavy brush on fire."
