An upscale yacht named "LOVEBUG" met with a maritime misfortune, capsizing near the West River's entrance in Edgewater on Saturday, without causing any physical harm to its five passengers. A rescue operation sprung into action around midday when the 121-foot vessel was found overturned, the circumstances of its demise remaining enigmatic, as per the Eye on Annapolis.
Racing against time and tide, Trevor Hardman, a seasoned fireman turned tour boat operator, claimed to have noticed the yacht listing precariously, signaling an aura of distress, as recounted in the same report. He mobilized his resources to the yacht's position, engaging with the Coast Guard and Towboat US, in a collective effort that saw the retrieval of the passengers, two were scooped from the water by Towboat US, while the yacht’s tender boat claimed two others, and Hardman himself extracted the captain, each one escaped the grip of potential peril unscathed though when they headed to shore but the boat started taking on water the captain pointed the boat to shallower waters before they were forced to abandon ship.
Moored often at the Annapolis Yacht Club, the ritzy "LOVEBUG" was built in the not-too-distant year of 2010, saw a face-lift in 2021, and was up until this point a chartered luxury, ranging at a hefty $125,900 per week, with its custodianship under JABULABI CHARTER FLORIDA, as indicated by documents cited by Eye on Annapolis.
On parallel reporting, Fox Baltimore confirmed the Coast Guard's attendance following a distress call stamped at 12:36 p.m., however, by their arrival, the revelation was all passengers were accounted for, safe and sound, suddenly a towboat and a similarly altruistic Samaritan were paramount in the response.
