Over 20 pounds of crystal meth were seized in a drug bust at a Kalamazoo home, a strike by law enforcement against the city's drug trade. On Wednesday, the joint operation by the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team (KVET) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) yielded not only methamphetamines but also cocaine, packaging materials, a substantial amount of cash, and other paraphernalia indicative of drug distribution activities, as reported by FOX 17 Online.
The raid occurred after a thorough investigation into a house situated in the 400 block of South Rose Street. In what appears to be a significant disruption to local narcotic operations, KVET officers, aiming to swiftly act on the gathered intelligence, implemented a search warrant that brought to light the illegal contraband. A 50-year-old resident was subsequently taken into custody, as noted by WWMT Newschannel 3.
Authorities did not immediately release the name of the suspect who is now lodged within the Kalamazoo County Jail awaiting further legal actions. The amount confiscated, a measure over 20 pounds of crystal meth, is one of the larger quantities retrieved in recent busts, underscoring the persistent challenge the community faces with drug proliferation.
Following the seizure, KVET extended a call to the public for assistance in continuing to combat drug-related crimes. "Anyone with information regarding drug dealers, illegal weapons violations and other crimes" is urged to reach out, a plea echoed by WWMT Newschannel 3. Contact points include the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team, and Silent Observer.
