Two individuals from Metro Detroit have been formally charged in the fatal shooting of a man in Melvindale, as reported on Tuesday by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. According to CBS News Detroit, Taiwan Antonelli Cox Jr., 20, of Detroit, and Curtis Damon Harris, 17, of Ecorse, were arraigned this week, facing first-degree murder and felony firearm charges in relation to the death of Frederick Coleman, also 20, from Detroit.

Back in May, on the ninth at approximately 9:50 p.m., Melvindale police came upon Coleman, already dead from multiple gunshot wounds, in the driver's seat of his car after being dispatched to the Outer Drive and Seaway area, officials said. Charged with shooting Coleman multiple times while he was stopped at a traffic intersection, the alleged actions by Cox and Harris ultimately led to this grim discovery, as the young man's life was claimed by the violence, The Detroit News reported.

Both defendants are currently detained without the possibility of bond, and authorities have not indicated if they have legal representation registered as of the latest updates. If they are found guilty, the charges carry the weight of life imprisonment for the murder, along with a consecutive two-year term for the felony firearm offense. A follow-up court hearing is scheduled for Monday in the 24th District Court in Allen Park, as detailed in WXYZ's coverage of the case.

Both men are now awaiting a probable cause hearing, which is set for July 22, according to information from aforementioned sources.
