A serious traffic collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle left one critically injured yesterday morning at a local Las Vegas intersection, authorities have reported. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred at around 7:57 a.m. on July 14, at the conjunction of Buffalo and Alta Drives. A 2023 Kawasaki motorcycle was moving north on Buffalo Drive when it collided with a 1998 Ford Expedition making a left turn onto eastbound Alta Drive.

The driver of the Ford, identified as 24-year-old Gadyr Manuel Guerrero-Rivera of Las Vegas, reportedly failed to yield to the motorcyclist while the traffic signal showed a flashing yellow left-turn arrow, a decision that led to the severe collision. Guerrero-Rivera was unharmed in the incident, and stayed at the scene cooperating with the authorities. Police indicated that there were no signs that impairment was a factor for Guerrero-Rivera.

The motorcyclist, 27-year-old Jordyn Hoffman also from Las Vegas, sustained life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to UMC Trauma. The medical staff at the trauma center determined the extent of Hoffman's injuries, and he remains in critical condition.

As part of ongoing investigations, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section is thoroughly reviewing the circumstances surrounding the accident. They have taken accounts from witnesses, and reviewed evidence and surveillance footage available at the scene.
