A multi-state effort to capture a woman connected to prison smuggling activities received a successful closure in Roseville, California. FOX40 reported that the Roseville Police Department, whilst attending to a disturbance call on June 30, discovered the woman had evaded them on foot. Further inquiry granted them the identity of the suspect, revealing an outstanding warrant for multiple fraud charges from Ohio.
This discovery prompted the Roseville officers to conduct an extensive search within the area, a mission complicated by her simultaneous evasion of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). In an unexpected twist, a plain clothes CDCR agent was also on the hunt for the same suspect, informing the officers that she might be near Raley's ONE center, according to a Facebook post from the City of Roseville Police Department.
The collaborative effort resulted in locating the woman in a local yogurt shop, where she was arrested. Subsequent investigations linked her to contraband smuggling into Pelican Bay State Prison, trafficking drugs, and cell phones. Ohio law enforcement confirmed their intent to extradite the woman upon her arrest in Roseville, unifying the interests of multiple agencies in the apprehension of a single suspect.
Roseville Police Department has emphasized the significance of inter-agency collaboration in ensuring the safety and security of communities. Their sentiment, echoed in the Roseville Police Department's Facebook post: "RPD was happy to assist CDCR and the Ohio State authorities locating a fugitive trying to hide out in Roseville." Their message concluded with a reminder to the public to "stay safe and alert."
