A somber cloud hangs over New Braunfels as local police investigate the deaths of Abigail Garza, 32, and Michael Burrer, 45, in what is currently being treated as a murder-suicide. According to KENS5, the couple was found deceased from gunshot wounds in a bedroom at their residence on the 900 block of Pumpkin Ridge this past Saturday.
Officials were dispatched to the scene around 5 p.m. after a request for a welfare check was placed, stemming from concerns regarding a woman who had reportedly threatened to harm herself and her boyfriend. It appeared that relatives had been trying, without success, to reach the pair for a number of days. A preliminary inquiry suggests Garza shot Burrer before tragically turning the gun upon herself, as evidenced disclosed by the officials. This marks New Braunfels' first homicide incident for the year 2024.
The New Braunfels Police Department, as conveyed in a report by Express News, underscored that both Garza and Burrer had been out of contact with their families for days preceding the grim discovery. The NBPD Criminal Investigations Division has now taken up the mantle to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding these fatal events.
