A tragic scene unfolded in the Woodland Hills neighborhood after a baby girl, merely a day old, was discovered dead outside a residence, triggering a homicide investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. According to KTLA, the infant was found deceased in a trash bin in the front yard of a home located on the 23000 block of Burbank Boulevard on Tuesday.
The investigation began after a 23-year-old woman sought medical attention at a hospital, presenting with extensive bleeding and indications that she had very recently given birth. This led officers to the grisly discovery of the infant. "The Police Department’s child abuse unit is investigating the incident as a homicide," a LAPD spokesperson told KTLA.
Neighbors reported to KTLA that the home in question has two residential units and that individuals from both were being questioned by authorities. Meanwhile, the woman believed to be the mother is still recovering in the hospital and has not been taken into custody. She is represented by defense attorney Tiffany Feder, who stated her client's cooperation with the police in an NBC Los Angeles interview, saying, "She is fully cooperating with the police".
