
A Northville man has been arraigned on charges related to a crash in Canton Township that resulted in serious injuries for two individuals. Ryan Emery, 44, is accused of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing serious injury – a crime that carries a potential five-year sentence. The collision occurred on June 27, 2024, at the crossing of Canton Center and Ford roads, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit.
According to details provided by The Detroit News, Emery's vehicle, a black GMC Sierra pickup truck, was moving northbound on Canton Center Road when it collided with a black Mitsubishi Eclipse traveling west on Ford Road. The crash victims, a 51-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, both Canton residents, were taken to a hospital with serious injuries following the crash, Emery's condition was also serious.
Upon his arraignment in 36th District Court in Detroit, Emery received a $50,000 bond and the requirement to wear a tether designed for GPS and alcohol monitoring, according to ClickOnDetroit. His next court appearance is slated for July 12 at the 35th District Court in Plymouth.
The case against Emery has garnered attention due to the circumstances of the crash, and the authorities' response to such incidents of suspected drunk driving. "Everyone involved in the crash was taken to a hospital with serious injuries," stated a report from The Detroit News, highlighting both the alleged perpetrator's and the victims' conditions following the incident.
