Last Friday night in Seattle's Interbay neighborhood, an adult male victim was declared deceased at the scene of a two-vehicle collision. The incident occurred at approximately 10:46 p.m. at the intersection of 15th Avenue West and West Garfield Street, according to an SPD Blotter report.
The collision involved two Toyota vehicles, a Corolla and a Camry, the former was reportedly traveling northbound at a high speed when it slid sideways and struck the latter which was heading southbound, causing the Corolla to flip and significant damage to both cars, police determined. A 32-year-old driver in the second vehicle was evaluated at the scene for impairment, but showed no signs thereof; he sustained minor injuries, was treated by the Seattle Fire Department, and then transported to Harborview Medical Center for further care.
Traffic in the area was affected as police and the Seattle Department anyone of Transportation cordoned off the crash site and managed the ensuing congestion. Investigators from the Traffic Collision Investigations Squad were dispatched to process the scene and are carrying out a full inquiry into the incident.
The identity of the deceased has not been released, the investigation into the collision is ongoing, no further details have been provided regarding potential contributing factors or charges at this time.
