An Oxnard man, Louie Ayala, aged 42, was arrested last week on suspicion of multiple offenses involving narcotics and an illegal firearm. According to a media release by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Ayala—a probationer with an existing felony warrant—was apprehended in Camarillo after resisting deputies and attempting to flee.

The situation unfolded on July 18, when an alert citizen reported a suspicious vehicle blocking a driveway on Nellora Street to the authorities. The vehicle, belonging to Ayala, was subsequently located by deputies. As he returned to his car, Ayala was confronted by a deputy, from which he quickly pushed and attempted to make a getaway on foot, but was captured after a short chase.

"Ayala was found to be in possession of 220 Oxycodone pills," the Sheriff's Office reported. Additionally, a probation search of his vehicle led to the discovery of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, and drug paraphernalia. Most alarming was the recovery of an unregistered short-barreled rifle equipped with armor-piercing bullets—found within his car.

The Sheriff's Office stated, "Some of the ammunition possessed by Ayala were armored piercing rounds." This was particularly concerning as Ayala is a convicted felon, which legally bars him from owning firearms and ammunition. The report further indicates that he has since been booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility on multiple charges, including resisting arrest and intent to distribute narcotics, among others related to the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

The community partnership and vigilance were lauded by the Sheriff's Office, which also encouraged the public to continue reporting suspicious activities. Camarillo Police emphasized how citizen involvement assists law enforcement in combating crime. Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and criminal complaint against individuals responsible for such crimes, reminding informants that they can stay anonymous and the call will not be recorded.
