On the eve of Independence Day, three young men in Oxnard were arrested by local law enforcement for illegal weapons possession, fitting a too-familiar narrative of gang affiliation and gun violence in urban communities. The Oxnard Police Department announced the arrests of Ronaldo Garcia, 18, Heber Garcia, 20, and Ruben Benitez, 18, following a meticulously carried out investigation targeting alleged illicit firearms possession, as reported by the Oxnard Police Department.
According to a news release provided by the Oxnard Police Department, detectives, after diving deep into the activities of the suspects throughout June, procured search warrants for two residences linked to the suspects located on the 4900 block of Olds Road. The serving of the warrants resulted in the discovery of an assortment of firearms, including an assault rifle, ample ammunition, miscellaneous gun parts, and evidence suggesting unlawful manufacturing of firearms, these developments uninhibitedly indicated the severity of the criminal activity within the domestic walls.
The arrests were executed smoothly on July 3 when the Oxnard PD's specialized units, including the Violent Crimes Unit, Special Enforcement Unit, Drug Enforcement Unit, and K9 Unit converged on the properties.
