On June 30, just around 3:15 a.m., police received a distress call about a body discovered along the 1400 block of Kerper Street, during this time they also responded to a call about an armed person in proximity. Brown was found on the sidewalk with a fatal gunshot wound to his head and was declared deceased shortly after at 3:24 a.m.
The suspect, whose image was captured on surveillance footage, has been described as last seen wearing an unusual piece of attire – a black hoodie adorned with a graphic of Marilyn Monroe clad in a Philadelphia football jersey, numbered 11, the surveillance photos were released as part of a police endeavor to solicit the public's assistance in locating the suspect.
