In Parkland, a determined Pierce County Sheriff's deputy and his canine partner apprehended a suspect in a commercial burglary at Lucky Transport. The incident unfolded last Monday evening when, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, deputies received a call about a male individual illegally rummaging through a vehicle within the company's secure lot.
The business owner managed to hold the suspect at gunpoint briefly, but the individual opted for flight, hurdling a fence into the tow yard to evade capture. Quick to act, deputies secured the area's perimeter and ushered in K9 Eddie, the four-legged deputy trained for exactly such scenarios. Eddie's acute senses led to the swift location of the suspect, who had taken to hiding behind a shed on the property, clinging to the fragile hope of invisibility. "It didn't take Eddie long to locate the suspect hiding behind a shed on the property", reported the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
The suspect, previously turned away during daylight hours for trying to access a vehicle at the tow yard for which he had no legal claim, had returned under nightfall to circumvent the denial he'd faced. His day's effort to sidestep lawful processes culminated in charges for Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest, following his booking into the Pierce County Jail.
A nod, albeit via official channels, was given to the successful capture courtesy of K9 Eddie and his handler. "Shout out to K9 Eddie and his handler on a job well done," the Pierce County Sheriff's Department praised.
