A Pomona family experienced a rude awakening when a large tree toppled onto their home early Thursday morning, causing significant damage and rendering the residence unsafe. The incident, which occurred at Wisconsin Street near Park and Holt Avenue, forced the occupants to evacuate and seek shelter elsewhere as emergency services responded to the scene. According to NBC Los Angeles, the house is now red-tagged, indicating that it is too hazardous for anyone to be inside.
"It was kind of loud, then the ceiling just starts falling," Enrique, a resident of the affected home, recounted in an interview with KTLA. He detailed the moments just before the tree crashed into the house, noting that the family heard unsettling "creaks" from the living room. Following the incident, all residents scrambled to safety and are now staying with family after their home was deemed uninhabitable.
Officials from the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived at approximately 1:15 a.m., as reported by FOX Los Angeles. Firefighters quickly evacuated the family, who were asleep at the time the tree penetrated the roof. Remarkably, no injuries were reported amidst the chaos of the sudden collapse.
