The Baltimore Ravens have ushered in the 2024 season with the start of their training camp, welcoming veterans early Saturday morning who are joining the eager rookies at the team facility. As reported by CBS News Baltimore, the full squad is to assemble on the field for the initial practice session on Sunday, setting the stage for a campaign filled with high aspirations following their AFC Championship Game departure against the Kansas City Chiefs last year.
The stakes are indisputably high for the Ravens, who dominated the regular season before stumbling at a critical juncture. "I think it starts right now, and it starts with each and every person looking themselves in the mirror, day-in and day-out, and when times get tough, taking that extra step saying, ‘Hey, this is what is going to get us over the hump,’ and every person raising their standard, even myself," Roquan Smith stated, entering his third season, as cited by FOX Baltimore. The Ravens are betting on their ability to quickly adapt and to seamlessly integrate new teammates, to fill the void left by 15 departing players.
However, not all news is about departures. The arrival of marquee running back Derrick Henry, who spent eight prior seasons with the Tennessee Titans, is expected to fortify the Ravens' offensive depth.
"I think we can do better honestly. And I know we can...I have a great deal of respect for the guys that were here before. Good luck to those guys and the places that they are," Smith stated, according to CBS News Baltimore, expressing confidence in the current roster and the potential that resides within its ranks. His commitment and that of his teammates will be put to the test as the Ravens embark on their 2024 journey, beginning with their first full team practice session, set for Sunday at 1:20 p.m.
