Round Rock Public Library Hosts 3rd Annual ‘Paint Your Pet’ Art Show, Call for Submissions Now OpenSource: City of Round Rock Texas

The Round Rock Public Library is once again inviting artists of all stripes to bring a bit more color and personality to its stacks with the 3rd Annual ‘Paint Your Pet’ Art Show.

Residents can submit their animal-inspired artworks starting now until August 15, with the event kicking off on August 15 and continuing through to the end of September, according to details posted on the library's website. Art pieces, all required to be created on modestly-sized mediums no larger than 8.5" x 11", will be exhibited in eye-catching window displays on the library's first floor and within the third-floor space.

This eclectic art show provides a platform for local creatives to immortalize their furry, scaly, or fantasy friends through various artistic mediums, from watercolor to crayon, and this year the library has broadened the scope to include digital submissions, potentially reaching a wider array of pet and art enthusiasts. Submissions for the in-person showcase should bear the artist's first name and age, along with their pet's moniker on the back.

Endearing renditions of pets aren't the only draw, as the library will also feature an online exhibition for those who can't make it in person or prefer the digital sphere, incorporating both in-person and internet-only submissions, the process and details of which are available through direct correspondence with Sarah Foreman at [email protected]. Once the curtains close on the exhibit, artists are encouraged to retrieve their masterpieces between October 2 and November 1, after which unclaimed items might just become rarer than a unicorn—at least in terms of getting them back.

Besides the traditional display, Round Rock Library is ensuring maximum accessibility by showcasing the submissions online for those who submit digitally, and all in-person entries will be part of the virtual show as well. Instructions for participating, including how to create your pet portrait, are laid out on the library's dedicated event page. The library is aiming to spark community engagement and encourage artists of all ages to participate in this unique blend of creativity, companionship, and celebration of the animals that bring joy to our lives.
