Following a fraud investigation, a high-speed pursuit along the freeway, and an eventual on-foot chase, San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputies have apprehended three men on a host of charges, including weapon and drug violations. On July 9, deputies and detectives from the Highland Sheriff's Station were investigating a case where suspects Larry Ferrier and Fredrick Gutierrez allegedly used a stolen bank card, as reported by the SBSD - Highland Police Department.
Having gathered intelligence on their location, law enforcement tracked the suspects to a San Bernardino hotel, as per the Highland Police Department. In a turn of events that saw almost being hit by the suspects' escaping vehicle, Fredrick Gutierrez and Juan Perez rammed two patrol cars and initiated a pursuit after detectives tried to detain them. They then led authorities on a chase along the I-10 freeway before crashing head-on into another vehicle, as detailed by Deputy C. Dominguez.
Bystanders played a crucial role, aiding deputies in tracking down Gutierrez and Perez after they fled the crash scene. A loaded firearm and suspected narcotics were discovered in the suspect's vehicle, according to the Highland Police Department. The investigation also led to Larry Ferrier's arrest at the hotel, where additional evidence tied to the fraud case was unearthed. The trio are now facing multiple charges and have been booked into the Central Detention Center.
