The brushfire that tore through 400 acres in San Bernardino County on Sunday has been substantially contained, with the latest report indicating that the Sierra Fire is now 80% under control. Located near Sierra and Jurupa avenues in Fontana, the fire initially posed a threat to structures but no injuries have been reported.
According to a KTLA report, the fire department's efforts have neutralized the danger to homes in the area. "Additional ground resources and aircraft requested," announced the San Bernardino County Fire Department, affirming the proactive measures taken to manage the blaze. Fixed-wing aircraft and firefighters were deployed quickly, with AIR7 footage showing the extent of the fire's proximity to residences.

Firefighters, assembling defensive positions to protect threatened homes, have been able to prevent any infrastructure damage. As ABC7 detailed, structure defense engines were promptly in place, managing the fire's southeast spread and side slope expansion. The containment percentage spiked from 15% to 80% in a matter of hours.
No mandatory evacuations were necessitated, despite the Sierra Fire's rapid growth and the subsequent second alarm response from the neighboring Riverside County Fire Department, as stated by CBS News Los Angeles. The South Coast Air Quality Management District, however, did issue a smoke advisory for parts of San Bernardino and Riverside counties, urging residents in the affected communities to stay indoors and reduce physical activity.
The origin and cause of the Sierra Fire remain under active investigation, but the coordinated effort by the fire crews has ensured that a potential disaster was averted. Residents are encouraged to follow updates and heed advisories as cleanup and containment efforts continue.
