Early Wednesday, a fire broke out along the fence line of two Fair Oaks homes, leading to the evacuation of a dozen residents and multiple pets. Firefighters from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District were dispatched to Cabodi Court around 3:08 a.m., where they found the flames threatening two houses. As reported by KCRA, seven individuals from one residence and five from another were safely removed from the premises.
Responding to the call with urgency, firefighters arrived on the scene to confront a blaze that had already taken hold of two homes. They conducted immediate searches and evacuations amid reports of occupants possibly being trapped inside, stated the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. Although no injuries were reported, the fire escalated to a second alarm, which called additional units to the scene, as noted in a piece by Folsom Times.
Efforts by the fire crew not only ensured residents' safety but also prevented the fire from ravaging further into the neighborhood. "It’s important to remember that this was a middle of the night fire where people are sound asleep in their beds. Fortunately both homes had working smoke alarms that alerted the occupants to get out," Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department officials shared with Folsom Times. The cause of the fire is actively under investigation.
A total of 29 firefighting units, including two truck companies, seven engines, and two medic units, were dispatched to combat the blaze. These recent fence line fires in the region serve as a stark reminder of the risks posed by flammable debris and the importance of maintaining clear space between properties, authorities informed KCRA. The incident on Tuesday morning adds to a string of similar fires that have occurred over the past few weeks.
