Lockdown procedures at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall were implemented and subsequently lifted last Saturday following an incident where security caught a suspect trying to throw contraband over the facility walls. The individual was intercepted at approximately 11:56 AM, causing the immediate suspension of visitations and a comprehensive security sweep led by the Los Angeles County Probation Department's Campus Safety and Security Operations and SEO K-9 Firearms teams.
After several hours locked down on Saturday, the facility operations resumed normal activities when the lockdown was lifted at 4:33 PM. Acting with caution, attempting to preserve the safety of young individuals inside the walls, the response by officers underscored the gravity with which the department views these breaches of security.
In a recent press release, the Los Angeles County Probation Department emphasized the seriousness with which it treats the presence of contraband within its facilities, stating, "The safety and security of the youth in our care are of the utmost importance to the Los Angeles County Probation Department. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for contraband, and anyone caught attempting to bring prohibited items into the facility will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
