A tragic hit-and-run incident occurred in Garden Grove, where a driver struck two adults and three children riding on bicycles before hastily driving off. According to NBC Los Angeles, the collision took place before 8:45 p.m. near the intersection of Twintree Lane and Haster Street. Acting as a bulwark against the driver's escape, a witness pursued the suspect and dialed 911, aiding law enforcement in detaining the driver, the identity of whom police have yet to release.

As reported by KTLA, the five victims included two adults towing three children in carriers. Suffering from the severity of the event, two children and one adult were left in critical condition. In the immediate aftermath, first responders swarmed the scene, with the remnants of the bicycles and carriers strewing about the street, marking the sudden violence that shattered the evening's calm.

As per CBS News, the crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. while the family was riding electric bikes and using bike trailers for the children. Following the accident, a 29-year-old driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, after a passerby alerted the authorities and enabled them to track down the fleeing vehicle about 1.2 miles from the crash site.

The investigation is ongoing. "Anyone who witnessed the crash and has any additional information or has video footage call Traffic Investigator John Yergler at 714-741-5772," as stated by CBS News.
