
A blaze that was ignited on the balcony of a four-story Sherman Oaks apartment building was swiftly extinguished by the Los Angeles Fire Department on the 4th of July. According to the LAFD alert, the fire began with a lithium-ion battery and consumed not only the balcony but also parts of the interior of a unit within the complex located at 14748 W Burbank Bl.

The LAFD was called to the scene at 5:44 PM and found smoke emerging from the building which consists of three residential floors above a parking area. It took the fire crews, a collective force of 30 firefighters, 23 minutes to put out the flames by 6:07 PM, as per the LAFD.
"Hazardous Materials specialists are responding to assist with disposing of the battery," the LAFD reported, indicating the potential dangers posed by the lithium-ion battery that started the fire. Fortunately, as a result of the prompt response, no injuries were reported stemming from the incident.
