A 19-year-old was killed in a drive-by shooting while riding his motorized scooter in Northeast Philadelphia, according to police. The incident occurred on the 4600 block of Levis Street around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. FOX 29 reported that the young man was struck by gunfire that witnesses say came from a vehicle, specifically from the passenger side.
As the city's night cloaked in a routine dusk, two bullets, amidst the chaos, found their way into a nearby home. Fortunately, police reported that no one in the struck property was hurt. Philadelphia police are actively searching for the vehicle and suspects involved in the shooting, with the hope that surveillance cameras in the vicinity might shed light on those responsible for this tragic loss of life. This was shared by authorities to NBC Philadelphia in an interview.
Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC Philadelphia, "Small said an investigation is ongoing and officials are hoping surveillance cameras in the area could help the police determine who might be responsible for this slaying." The Philadelphia Police Department has not yet released any description of the vehicle or suspects involved, as the investigation is ongoing.
