
Two teenagers have been brought into custody in connection with a series of scooter carjackings in Southeast Washington, D.C., the Metropolitan Police Department reported. On the afternoon of last Monday, the first victim was stripped of his ride in the 1100 block of Independence Avenue. The police were quickly alerted to the scene, where they encountered a second victim. This individual had also been threatened by the pair, who endeavored to forcefully take his scooter near the 1000 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, as per the Metropolitan Police Department release.
MPD's Real Time Crime Center moved swiftly to broadcast a lookout, complete with the location of the suspected felons. Officers, upon receiving this crucial intel, were able to track down to apprehend both suspects. They not only detained the duo but also seized a replica gun. The suspects, identified as 19-year-old Jacorri Stroman from Northeast, and 18-year-old Marion Austin from Suitland, MD, now face charges including Armed Carjacking and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, among other offenses. Specifically, Stroman has been hit with the additional charge of Possession of a BB Gun.
Further probing by detectives revealed that Austin was already on the wanted list for offenses in Prince George’s County, subsequently escalating his charges to include Fugitive from Justice.
