Tragedy struck earlier today on San Antonio's Southwest side, culminating in two fatalities in connection with a shooting incident. According to KENS 5, San Antonio police responded to reports of an argument and subsequent gunfire around 6 a.m. at the junction of Division Avenue and Nogalitos Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound to the head, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The sequence of events leading up to the second death involved, police said, two friends who had been drinking and eventually got into a heated argument — ending in one man fatally shooting the other. FOX San Antonio reports that the shooter, having committed the act, contacted his son about what he had done. The son, concerned for his father's safety and evidently aware that he had a gun, alerted the authorities.
The gunman, roaming the area, stopped at the corner of Violeta Place and S. Richter Street, near W. Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard. Police received a tip from the suspect's son indicating his father's location and the presence of a firearm. When an officer arrived and exiting his car, he witnessed the man in a red sedan turn the gun on himself. Despite attempts to save his life, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, with no threat to other community members reported.
