On the evening of July 14, a severe traffic collision in Oxnard left two people seriously injured after their motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer. According to a news release from the Oxnard Police Department, the crash occurred at the intersection of South Rose Avenue and Mountain View Avenue at approximately 7:11 p.m.
Alois Slepicka, a 59-year-old citizen of Oxnard, was riding his 2017 Suzuki GSX Motorcycle accompanied by Maria Slepicka, when they encountered Ram Pal's tractor-trailer making a left turn. The motorcycle, in an effort to avoid a collision, veered left but ultimately hit the truck, ejecting both riders onto the road. Responding officers found them injured in the roadway of Rose Avenue.
The driver of the 2023 Freightliner Cascadia, 42-year-old Ram Pal from New York, NY, remained at the scene post-collision and cooperated fully with investigators. Both Alois and Maria Slepicka were swiftly transported to Ventura County Medical Center to treat their major injuries. "Investigators do not believe impairment contributed to the collision, however, speed may have been a factor," the Oxnard Police Department stated.
