Two men have been taken into custody in connection with a homicide that occurred on July 7th in Ontario. The arrest unfolded following a dispatch to the scene of a shooting in an alleyway on the 1100 block of East Nocta Street, as detailed by the Ontario Police Department. The early evening incident quickly escalated from a verbal argument to fatal violence, leading to the arrest of Guillermo Gonzalez and Miguel Alvarez-Rangel.
Officers, having arrived at the scene, stopped a vehicle looking to hastily depart the area. Inside were Gonzalez and Alvarez-Rangel, whose involvement in the incident was immediately suspected. Alvarez-Rangel had sustained injuries and needed to quickly be taken to a hospital, while Gonzalez, unharmed, was arrested on an unrelated warrant, as reported by the City of Ontario. Meanwhile, authorities found two victims of the shooting; one was declared dead at the scene, and the other was critically injured and is since reported to be stabilized.
Investigations by the Ontario police led to murder charges for Alvarez-Rangel, upon release from the hospital, and for Gonzalez. Both individuals have been processed at West Valley Detention Center, facing severe accusations including first-degree murder and assault with a firearm, as per the City of Ontario. A firearm was also retrieved in the vicinity of the crime.
