Early Monday morning, a Camarillo gun store was the target of a brazen burglary that has prompted an investigation by Ventura County authorities. According to CBS News Los Angeles, a stolen vehicle rammed into the Camarillo Gun Store around 4:20 a.m., allowing four to five masked individuals to smash display cases and make off with several firearms. Ventura County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Senerey De Los Santos described the incident as "shocking" and said that this type of crime hadn't occurred “in quite some time”.
The burglary was executed with precision, quickly to smash the front door before deputies arrived. The suspects, described as five or six in number, had disappeared into the predawn darkness, fleeing in a second silver sedan. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office is currently reviewing surveillance footage to aid in their efforts to track down the perpetrators, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
The incident has raised concerns about the potential for these stolen guns to become part of the area’s black market. The gun store's inventory is being thoroughly checked to ascertain the number and types of guns stolen. Meanwhile, the sheriff's office has not released specifics on the models or quantity of firearms taken.
Despite the swift response from law enforcement, the suspects managed to elude capture by driving down an alleyway near the firearms shop, as per the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. Local news station KTLA reported that a mangled sedan, believed to have been used in the initial break-in, was found abandoned close to the site. Details of the incident remain under investigation as authorities continue to solicit leads that might help to quickly bring the guilty parties to justice and recover the stolen weapons.
