The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are gearing up for their quest for another NFC South title, as training camp looms on the horizon. A pivotal factor in their pursuit lies in the form of defensive tackle Vita Vea, whose recent lifestyle changes appear to be ushering in a promising season. After undergoing an offseason transformation that included significant weight loss, Vea is reportedly experiencing a newfound sense of wellbeing. Athlon Sports noted Vea's positive outlook on his physical state, a change he attributes to his time spent training in Oregon with Ndamukong Suh, another former teammate.
Remarkably, it was adaptation and comfort that catalyzed Vea's decision to revamp his offseason regimen. "The one thing about Tampa, I love it here, and I think I just got too comfortable being out here," Vea said during his appearance on the Green Light podcast, revealing the parallels between his routine and contentment. This revelation, alongside his newfound workout regimen, has led to discussions about his impact on the Bucs' defensive line in the upcoming season.
In line with Vea's offseason transformation, Kacy Rodgers, the Buccaneers' defensive line coach and co-defensive coordinator, has observed noticeable differences in Vea's condition. Rodgers is hopeful that the 29-year-old lineman can enhance his performance from "good" to "dominant" this season, as reported by Athlon Sports. The potential elevation in Vea's play could serve as a linchpin in the Bucs' defense.
Vea's commentary on his routine echoes a sentiment of striving for personal growth, "So I had just gotten really comfortable here," he explained to NBC Sports. "I think I needed a change of scenery and just kind of grow up in my own sense. Trying something new, that’s what I did. I think it helped me out a lot. My body feels good right now." With his proactive approach and the results already seeming to manifest, the Buccaneers may well find themselves with a revitalized force anchoring their defensive line as they take to the field this fall.
