A French Bulldog named Yurman has been safely returned to its owner following a series of events involving an armed robbery and a subsequent sting operation by the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The reunion came after an individual attempted to sell the dog back to its rightful owner, which prompted police involvement.
The saga began on the morning of June 29, when a suspect, now identified as Raphael Lambert Loundermon II, accosted the dog's owner at gunpoint in the 1700 block of Fort Davis Street, Southeast. According to an MPD release, Yurman was then taken and the assailant fled in an a vehicle. It wasn't until a week later that the owner received communication from a party claiming to have the dog and offering to sell it back to them.
This tip led to a coordinated sting operation by the MPD's Violent Crime Suppression Division along with detectives from the Sixth District. The sting took place near Pennsylvania Ave and Alabama Ave, Southeast, on July 6, resulting in the recovery of Yurman and the arrest of two suspects, the aforementioned Loundermon II and 27-year-old Khaliah Johnson, both from Southeast. Charges against the couple include Extortion and Receiving Stolen Property.
The investigation into this case is ongoing. Both Loundermon II and Johnson were apprehended due to the detective's persistent efforts and are currently facing legal repercussions for their actions. In a display of relief and gratitude, the owner was reunited with Yurman on Saturday. Further details about the ongoing investigation remain undisclosed at this time.
